Dear Friends,
The Calhoun-Cleburne Mental Health Board (CCMHB) continues to play a major role in the lives of many individuals of Calhoun and Cleburne Counties. In FY 07-08, CCMHB provided treatment to 4,792 individuals (4.7% increase) experiencing mental health related issues. It has been our mission for over forty (40) years to provide services "To Those In Need, By Those Who Care."
During FY 07-08 CCMHB was able to expand two mental illness programs. First, the Residential Care Home (RCH) located on Leighton Avenue increased from eleven (11) to fourteen (14) beds and moved from a basic to a specialized behavioral home. With the change from basic to specialized behavioral, it provides CCMHB with the opportunity to treat individuals who are experiencing severe behavioral issues. In addition to the RCH expansion, a second ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) team program was added to the mental illness programs. The ACT team provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious mental illness and severe functional disability. The majority of the ACT services are provided in the community where consumers spend their time. I believe both expansions are additional tools for CCMHB to help reduce the number of individuals being committed to the state hospitals.
CCMHB has continued to pave the way for increasing efficiency through electronic medical records. It is our goal to complete the majority of this project over the next year.
I want to thank each of you for your support and commitment to our organization. I look forward to the many opportunities that are before us to serve those in need of mental health services.
Thank you,
Mickey S. Turner
